East Down Colleges

The East Down Colleges project is an availability-based PPP involving the design, construction, financing, and maintenance of three educational campuses located in Ballynahinch, Downpatrick, and Newcastle, Northern Ireland.

The project delivers modern educational facilities designed to meet the specific needs of each location and student population. The campuses provide comprehensive learning environments with specialized classrooms, laboratories, workshops, and student amenities. The colleges operational in 2009 and the concession runs until 2036.

Sustainability

Each of the college campuses incorporates energy-efficient systems and environmentally friendly construction practices.

The design promotes sustainability through improved insulation, daylight optimisation, and modern mechanical systems that lower energy
consumption.

These features support both the colleges’ operational goals and broader climate objectives for the region.
