We are pleased to announce that BBGI Global Infrastructure has acquired a 30% equity interest in the Blankenburg Tunnel PPP, a landmark transport infrastructure project enhancing connectivity and resilience in the Rotterdam region of the Netherlands.
The project opened to the public in December 2024. Delivered under a Public Private Partnership structure, the project comprises a new strategic road connection including the Maasdeltatunnel, a water tunnel beneath the River Scheur of approximately 1,000 metres, the Hollandtunnel, a land tunnel of approximately 500 metres, and adjacent motorway connections configured as dual three-lane carriageways. The concession runs until June 2044.
The Blankenburg Tunnel significantly improves regional mobility by reducing congestion and cutting travel times for the daily users, while strengthening network resilience around the Port of Rotterdam. The asset has been developed to high environmental and technical standards, incorporating climate-adapted design, flood resilience measures, and comprehensive environmental mitigation, including biodiversity protection.
This investment further strengthens BBGI’s European transport portfolio while supporting critical economic infrastructure in one of Europe’s most important logistics and industrial regions.
