BBGI acquires equity interests in the University of Kentucky’s on-campus student housing portfolio

BBGI Global Infrastructure has acquired equity interests in the University of Kentucky’s on-campus student housing portfolio, a high-quality social infrastructure investment in Lexington, Kentucky (U.S.), comprising a 49% interest in the operating portfolio and a 90% interest in a new residence hall.

The portfolio comprises 14 operating purpose-built residential buildings with approximately 6,850 beds, together with Kirwan Blanding Hall, a new 649-bed residence hall opening for the 2026–27 academic year, bringing the portfolio to approximately 7,500 beds. As the primary supply of on-campus housing at the University of Kentucky, the portfolio is fully integrated with university housing and marketed to students as University of Kentucky accommodation. The assets are held under long-term ground leases with an average remaining term of approximately 60 years, and are managed by Greystar, one of the largest owners and operators of student housing in the United States, which remains invested alongside BBGI.

The portfolio provides modern, purpose-built living environments that support student wellbeing and academic success and addresses a structural undersupply of student accommodation in Lexington. The buildings have been developed to high environmental standards, with thirteen of the fourteen operating buildings holding LEED certification and Kirwan Blanding Hall also expected to achieve LEED certification.

This investment strengthens BBGI’s core North American social infrastructure portfolio, adding a long-term, demand-resilient asset portfolio backed by an AA+ rated public university counterparty.
