Kelowna & Vernon Hospitals
The Kelowna & Vernon Hospitals project is a 30-year availability-based PPP that delivered over 750,000 sq. ft. of new healthcare infrastructure across two hospital campuses in British Columbia’s Interior.
It includes a new Patient Care Tower, a Clinical Academic Campus, a Clinical Support Building and a parkade at Kelowna General Hospital, as well as a new Patient Care Tower at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
The four new facilities became operational between 2010 and 2012. These assets are integrated with approx. 775,000 sq. ft. of additional existing infrastructure, which the portfolio company also maintains.
The modernized campuses expand the region’s ability to deliver care, train clinicians, and serve a growing community.
Sustainability
Each new building achieved LEED Gold certification between 2011 and 2014.
Key sustainability measures include energy-efficient systems such as HVAC setback controls alongside a high-performance building envelope and LED lighting upgrades. Water conservation was achieved through low-flow fixtures as well as landscaping with native, drought-tolerant plants to reduce irrigation.
Construction waste diversion programs minimised environmental impact during the building process.
