Creating outdoor seating for students at The North School

The student communal area at The North School in Ashford, Kent, is the outdoor space students use during breaks. It now has eight picnic benches, giving students somewhere to sit outside to eat, socialise and study.

The benches were funded by Kent Education Partnership Limited, the Portfolio Company for the Kent Schools project, in which BBGI is a co-shareholder. The North School, a secondary school and sixth form for students aged 11 to 19, is one of the six schools in the project.

Made from recycled plastic, the benches cost £3,160 and were paid for from the Portfolio Company’s ESG budget. Their installation was coordinated by Mitie FM, the project’s facilities management contractor. They can also be rearranged, allowing the school to set up outdoor learning spaces when needed.

On behalf of our staff and students I would like to express our sincere gratitude for the new picnic benches provided by Kent Education Partnership for our student communal area. These benches have made an immediate difference, renewing the space into a welcoming outdoor area where students can socialise and study. We truly appreciate the support in improving our student environment and investing in the wellbeing of our community.
