Merseycare Hospital
The Mersey Care Hospital project is an availability-based PPP involving design, construction, financing and maintenance of a mental health in-patient facility on the former Walton hospital site in Liverpool, UK.
The new facility includes 85-single occupancy bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms designed to meet best practices in modern mental health care. Each of the five wards includes dedicated therapeutic courtyard facilities and light-filled communal areas to support patient well-being.
The facility provides mental health in-patient services as part of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust’s network. The building’s design incorporates therapeutic environments and modern clinical standards to support patient treatment and recovery. The concession runs until 2044.
Sustainability
The facility was designed and constructed to a BREEAM “Excellent” standard, ensuring high levels of environmental performance and sustainability across building operations.
